On Saturday November 7, your LAFD and MySafe:LA are coming to East L.A. with another weekend smoke alarm installation canvasing operation! This event will include the LAFD’s Operation Central Bureau Fire Station 25, and will be joined by MySafe:LA’s EDU 2 and EDU 3 fire safety education teams.

The canvassing effort is part of a groundbreaking smoke alarm initiative started in 2014 by MySafe:LA and the Los Angeles Fire Department. So far, more than 12,000 smoke alarms and hundreds of carbon monoxide detectors have been installed in more than 1,000 homes all over the city.

We’ve had a long and productive relationship with Boyle Heights, and of course with the members of Fire Station 25,” said MySafe:LA Executive Officer David Barrett. “we know that Boyle Heights has proven to be a community in some need of fire safety support, so if you need a new battery for one alarm, or five brand new alarms and a CO detector. We’ll provide the alarms and install them, for free. We just want residents to be safe.”
