Third Annual Smoke Alarm Awareness Month Merits LA City Recognition

The Los Angeles City Council, led by a proclamation by Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez (District 7) honored MySafe:LA in chambers relative to the third annual “Smoke Alarm Awareness Month.” The entire City Council participated in recognizing the important work performed by MySafe:LA, as the organization passed 40,000 smoke alarms installed in Los Angeles homes during the previous four years.

Our efforts to build a more resilient Los Angeles are incremental, but over time, the results add up,” noted MySafe:LA Executive Officer David Barrett. “Working closely with all 15 City Council offices, our organization can make a difference, and we’re committed to continuing to find those at-risk homes and to make them safer.” MySafe:LA Director of Government Affairs Harout Harry Semerdjian noted the importance of collaboration. “We’re working with City agencies to ensure the public/private partnership demonstrates results,” Semerdjian said following the ceremony. “Councilwoman Rodriguez has been a terrific partner, and we find so many people at-risk in her district, so this is very important work for us.”
