Hands-Only CPR
–
The American Heart Association has determined that for the average bystander, performing hands-only CPR improves a person’s chances of survival significantly. Our education teams teach hands-only CPR in high schools, at events, and to any group interested in being “CPR-Ready” across Los Angeles.
Ready, Set, Go!
–
Wildfires are an ongoing threat in drought stricken California. Working in collaboration with local fire departments, learn how to get ready, be set, and to go when asked by fire or police to evacuate.
QuakeSmart:LA
–
We can’t escape earthquakes in California. The best answer is to be prepared. Our QuakeSmart:LA program is about preparing, surviving, and recovering from “The Big One!”
Burn Prevention
–
Burns involve a lot more than injury via fire. People are burned by the sun, chemicals, hot water, and other elements. The MySafe:LA burn prevention initiative explains how to prevent burn injuries.
WaterSmart:LA
–
Every year, children and adults drown in California. In nearly every case, it’s a loss that could have been avoided. MySafe:LA explains how to rescue a drowning patient, and to take steps to save them.
Older Adult Safety

Fire and Life Safety have no age boundaries. As we get older, there are additional things we should know to ensure our personal safety and the safety of those around us. Learn how today!
Pet Safety

School Visits

Our education teams visit elementary schools and teach 4th and 5th grade students about fire and life safety, earthquake survival and home fire inspections. We teach high school students how to perform hands-only CPR and other life safety techniques.
Fire Apparatus
–
Kids love fire engines. Learn about the many types of apparatus used by the Los Angeles Fire Department. Do you know the difference between a fire engine and a fire truck? Did you know the LAFD has boats and helicopters? See them all right here.
Family Escape Plan

Knowing what to do in the event of a fire is a life-critical issue for every family. Getting out of a burning building safely involves creating a family escape plan and practicing it. Download the plan for free and learn how to get your family prepared to evacuate.
