Our non-profit organization works closely with multiple fire departments, including the Los Angeles Fire Department. If you’re interested in a career in the fire service, spending a year or two with our team might improve your chances of getting hired.

WHY JOIN OUR TEAM?

You’ll end up with experience in fire prevention, community risk reduction, as well as delivering fire and life safety education. Our members are fully engaged with the community, interact (and ride along) with fire companies, and add to their resumés with real world experience.

The pay is better than many BLS ambulance firms pay.

Community Risk Reduction Home Educator

This is a terrific opportunity to teach families about fire safety and to inspect their homes for obvious fire dangers. Our CRR Education Team collaborates with fire companies, working in the community and inspecting homes, installing smoke alarms (which we provide for free) and CO detectors. You’ll also teach families about escape plans, fire extinguishers, and how to properly communicate with a 911 call taker. If you’re an EMT and looking for a new opportunity, this might be the perfect spot for you. This is a contractor PAID position.

Requirements

• Must have a current EMT NREMT Card (CA Card may be accepted).
• Must meet all insurance requirements which include a valid driver’s license with a good driving record, criminal record clearance, etc.
• Must be capable of lifting/transferring up to 60 lbs.
• Must be capable of using simple power tools, such as a drill.
• Must be capable of using technology tools, including a laptop computer.
• Previous experience in patient care setting a plus.
• Must be able to walk for extensive periods of time.
• Must be able to comprehend and communicate in English.
• Interact with families and other agencies in person and over the phone.
• Ability to administer prescribed treatments.
• Ability to perform CPR (have a valid, current AHA or ARC CPR Responder Card).
• MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A PHYSICAL EXAM AND TB SCREENING.

Fire and Life Safety School and Event Educator

Our education team works in both elementary and high schools. We teach 4th and 5th grade students about fire and life safety, and engage them in projects that ultimately create a safer home environment for them. Our curricula includes fire safety, earthquake survival, water safety, and CPR/AED education. Because we work with both school districts and fire departments, you must be a current NREMT Emergency Medical Technician. This is a very rewarding gig, and it could take you a step or two closer to becoming a professional first responder. This is a contractor PAID position.

Social Media Intern

The social media intern will assist our Communications Team implementing the organization’s Social Media messaging. The person in this position will support developing brand awareness, generating followers and curating creative content. The Social Media intern should be someone who is a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills, have experience and a passion for designing and implementing content strategy, creating relevant content, and blogging.

We are looking for someone who lives in the Los Angeles area, is creative, readily accessible, has strong writing skills, an extensive knowledge of social media and has a solid understanding of confidentiality. This is a contractor PAID position.

Requirements

• Monitor and post on blogs, forums, and social networks
• Online outreach and promotion using Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and more
• Website and social media optimization
• Curate creative content for social media and blog
• Stay up to date on new platforms
• Be able to post content following a schedule
