It's Important For The Kids...

Being a MySafe:LA Firefighter Volunteer is a great gig. Typically, it involves one day a month, and while there is no salary, food and fuel are paid for. Each MySafe:LA Firefighter Expert Presenter fills the same type of roll as that of an on-duty member. The difference being that on occasion, our team will present at a school or recreation and parks facility using off-duty members. The effects of the Modified Coverage Plan and other issues put a strain on resources, and at no time does our program interfere with emergency or operational readiness.

We're thrilled with our initial volunteer registration. To-date we have volunteers from the following battalions:

  • Battalion 1
  • Battalion 5
  • Battalion 7
  • Battalion 10
  • Battalion 14

With 25 active members volunteering, we're seeking an additional 15 members. There is an added benefit if you have the following rank or certification:

  • Engineer
  • Paramedic
  • FEMA TF-CA1 Member
  • Pilot

Newsflash

The Los Angeles Fire Department and MySafe:LA extend warm congratulations to the Los Angeles Lakers and Power Forward Pau Gasol for their back-to-back NBA championships. The ability to overcome adversity, injuries, and stress was never more evident than in this remarkable championship. Pau wants all of the children in Los Angeles to know that every winner does so because of teamwork and practice. Every family should practice their family escape plan and be prepared to take appropriate action in the event of an emergency.
